Scripture-Based Prayer for Pastor Kirby
Posted: Sunday, October 17, 2004 2:08 PM (CST)

The following are scripture-based prayers you can pray for our pastor.  They are designed for  you to use one each day of the week.  You can use the prayer exactly as given or base a prayer on the scripture listed.  A good way to do this is to read the scripture aloud and then pray.

Monday

Lord, let Pastor Kirby have a discerning mind to prioritize the hours and minutes of his day.  Let my pastor discern what is most important and be protected from the tyranny of the urgent.  (2 Cor. 11:14; Jn 4:1)

Tuesday

Jesus, keep Pastor Kirby holy in every way (1 Pet. 1:16).  Protect him from seducing spirits, especially when he is tired and hard-pressed.  Provide comrades to help protect him and to share in personal holiness. (Jas 4:7).  As Pastor Kirby draws near to You, draw near to him (Jas. 4:8). Cancel the power of sin so it will have no effect (Eph: 1:22)

Wednesday

Lord, as Pastor Kirby spends quiet time with You, shed Your love abroad in his heart.  Let my pastor know how much he is loved (Rom. 5:5).  In Jesus' name let the love of God be Pastor Kirby's mainstay in ministry. So be it!

Thursday

In Jesus' name I command church hurts, abuses, and ungreatful forces to move.  I command mountains of criticism and inordinate expectations to be cast into the sea.  I command stress, excessive phone counseling, and fatigue to be cast into the sea, and I believe every need, vision, and dream of Pastor Kirby's that comes from you will be completed.  (Mk. 11:22-24 ; Phil. 4:19)

Friday

Lord, I stand against the enemies of Pastor Kirby's prayer life - business (Acts 6:2-4), compulsions, compromise (Acts 5), unnecessary phone calls, chronic counselees, fatigue, sleepiness (Mt. 26:41), appetites, television, late meetings, over-commitment, and doubt.  Let nothing hinder Pastor Kirby's time to You.  Let him rise up to seek You (Mk 1:35), pray with other pastors (Acts 1:14), and pray without ceasing (1 Thes. 5:17).  Give Pastor Kirby the time, the desire, and the place to pray (Acts 16:16).  I rebuke in the name of Jesus any distractions from his devotional life (Mk. 5:36)

Saturday

Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, anoint Pastor Kirby to preach and bring apostolic results (Acts 2:37).  Let people be cut to the heart and accept Jesus Christ.
